About The Position

Parsons is seeking a Scientist to support enteric infections research at the Biological Defense Research Directorate (BDRD) within the Naval Medical Research Center (NMRC) in Frederick, MD. The BDRD within NMRC facilitates biological research for the rapid detection of infectious diseases of global importance and the enhancement of global disease surveillance for early pathogen detection and response. This position is part of Parsons' Federal Solutions team, which delivers resources to US government customers for missions in defense, security, intelligence, infrastructure, and environmental sectors. Requirements

  • Required to acquire, at a minimum, a SECRET classification access level.
  • PhD in virology, microbiology, molecular biology, emerging infectious diseases, or biochemistry.
  • Minimum of 5 years directly related research and management experience.
  • Must have good communication and analytical skills and the ability to meet project deadlines.
  • Significant NGS and wet lab experience with infectious disease protocols is required.
  • US citizenship is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a military medical research laboratory is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage an Enteric Infections research program, providing scientific direction and management of necessary resources including budget, supplies, equipment and data organization.
  • Summarizes research data, prepares posters, and/or presents results via conference presentations, scientific publications, and project reports.
  • Assists PI and scientists in writing grant support to novel lines of research in Enteric Infections and Genomics.
  • Attends international, national, and internal meetings and teleconferences.
  • Develop technical reports, summaries, and protocols.
  • Present data at national and international conferences, symposia or meetings.
  • Maintain clear and accurate laboratory records, inventories and logbooks; record detailed observations about experiments.
