About The Position

You will perform a wide variety of interrelated or nonstandard biological science technical support assignments related to wildlife. You will be operating boats. The typical seasonal entry-on-duty period for is May-October but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Must pass a background investigation and drug test.
  • Must be at least 18 years old or 16 years old with specific educational qualifications.
  • Must be able to obtain a Motorboat Operator Certification Course (MOCC) or equivalent.
  • Must be in good physical condition to hike up to 6 miles over rough terrain while carrying loads of 50 pounds or more.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with wildlife biology or ecology.
  • Familiarity with data collection and statistical methods.
  • Previous experience operating motorboats.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct wildlife surveys and capture and handle wildlife.
  • Perform habitat surveys and general natural resource management.
  • Engage in data entry and management, including the use of ArcGIS.
  • Operate motorboats to conduct fieldwork in Voyageurs National Park.
  • Work in various environmental conditions, including extreme weather.
