About The Position

The University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) seeks adjunct faculty to teach on-site in Vandenberg Space Force Base, CA for the Biology program. Specifically, we are seeking faculty for the following course(s): BIOL 101 - Concepts of Biology, BIOL 102 - Laboratory in Biology, and BIOL 103 - Introduction to Biology. The courses cover various topics including the structure and function of living organisms, the scientific method, and the impact of biological knowledge on human societies. The role involves engaging students, providing feedback, and demonstrating subject-matter expertise.

Requirements

• Masters degree in Biology or related field from an accredited institution.
• Professional experience in Biology, Natural Science or related field.
• Experience teaching adult learners online and in higher education is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Actively engage students through frequent interaction that motivates them to succeed.
• Guide students in active collaboration and application of their learning.
• Provide rich and regular constructive feedback utilizing rubrics for assessment.
• Demonstrate relevant and current subject-matter expertise.
• Provide feedback to the program chair on possible curricular improvements.
