About The Position

The BIFX team at Exact Sciences is seeking a summer intern. The intern will collaborate with senior bioinformatics scientists, the software engineering team, and the AI team to evaluate, implement, and improve a general-purpose Bioinformatics AI Agent for pipeline execution and data analysis.

Requirements

• Pursuing or recently completed a Ph.D./M.S. in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Data Science, Mathematics, or related field; strong academic record preferred.
• Solid background in statistical analysis and software engineering.
• Experience in genomics data preprocessing and AI agents.
• Able to perform essential duties with or without accommodation.
• Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

• Demonstrated experience with deep learning frameworks and methodologies.
• Proven ability to handle and analyze large-scale NGS datasets.
• Proficient in relational database management and SQL.
• Familiarity with AWS Q-CLI.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the end-to-end bioinformatics data analysis workflow: data collection, initiating pipelines, data transformation, building and validating analysis models, and investigating machine learning and AI-based methods.
• Develop, test, and analyze AI agents on AWS.
• Analyze genomics and NGS data.
• Program efficiently in Python and/or R.
• Use AWS computing resources effectively.
• Summarize work for internal discussions and results sharing.
