About The Position

Bioinformatics Business Analyst The Opportunity: Serve as a Bioinformatics Business Analyst supporting the direction, evolution, and adoption of enterprise bioinformatics platforms and analytical tools. Apply deep bioinformatics domain knowledge to translate scientific and public health needs into clear, actionable platform requirements, roadmaps, and product features. Partner closely with product managers, enterprise architects, and engineering teams to ensure bioinformatics platforms are mission-aligned, scalable, and user- center ed. Apply a bioinformatics lens to gather, analyze, and translate scientific and operational requirements into platform and product capabilities. Elicit and document use cases, user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional or non-functional requirements for bioinformatics tools and data platforms. Support development and refinement of product and platform roadmaps in collaboration with product managers and technical leads. Facilitate technical, functional, and operational discussions to bridge bioinformatics needs with implementable engineering solutions. Coordinate bioinformatics, data science, engineering, cloud, and infrastructure teams to ensure alignment and delivery. Participate in Agile ceremonies such as backlog refinement, sprint planning, scrum of scrums, or PI planning, to identify dependencies, risks, and priorities. Support platform governance by helping define KPIs, success met rics, and outcomes aligned to bioinformatics mission goals. Assist with product demonstrations, stakeholder briefings, and user e nga gement activities to support adoption and feedback. Track requirements and delivery progress using tools such as Azure DevOps or Jira. This position is located in Atlanta, GA.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience analyzing bioinformatics workflows, data types, and analytical use cases such as genomics, sequencing data, pipelines, or surveillance analytics
  • Knowledge of common bioinformatics, life sciences, or public health data platforms or analytical tools
  • Knowledge of front-end or back-end technologies used for application development, including SQL, NoSQL databases, or web-based interactive user interfaces
  • Knowledge of Agile, Scrum, Kanban, or SAFe delivery environments
  • Ability to lead client and stakeholder discussions, ask the right questions, document clear requirements, and translate them into actionable implementation steps
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements
  • Master’s degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biomedical Informatics, or Genomics

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a public health, life sciences, or research-focused environment
  • Experience with the systems development lifecycle and modern data platform architectures
  • Experience with business analysis processes, including translating scientific or technical requirements into user stories, use cases, and platform features
  • Experience modeling business processes and requirements, using structured tools and techniques, including use-case scenarios, and integrating them with data and system architectural models and requirements
  • Knowledge of big data, analytics, or bioinformatics platforms in a cloud environment
  • Knowledge of cloud-based systems and data platforms
  • Doctorate degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genomics, or a related field
  • Agile or SAFe Certification
