About The Position

The Bioinformatician supports the CDC National Center for HIV, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and Tuberculosis Prevention (NCHHSTP) by applying advanced computational, data science, and bioinformatics methods to public health surveillance, laboratory, and research data. This role enables NCHHSTP programs to transform complex biological and epidemiological data into actionable insights that inform disease prevention, outbreak response, and public health decision-making. The Bioinformatician works closely with CDC scientists, epidemiologists, laboratory staff, and informatics teams to support secure, compliant, and scalable bioinformatics solutions aligned with CDC IT governance, data standards, and privacy requirements. Work is primarily remote, but candidate must live within 50 miles of the CDC campus in Atlanta, GA for meetings/ support.
