The Massachusetts Department of Fish & Game seeks a Biodiversity Media Intern to join its passionate, interdisciplinary team. In 2025, Governor Maura Healey set nation-leading Biodiversity Goals for Massachusetts. The plan sets four key goals—Protect, Restore, Sustain, and Connect—each with specific strategies for action for 2030, 2040, and 2050. This ambitious, whole-of-government approach aims to rebuild biodiversity and invest in nature to sustain our health and well-being, food security, economy, and way of life. The Biodiversity Media Intern will work closely with the DFG Communications Director to highlight on-the-ground efforts to protect and restore nature and drive progress towards the goals. They will be expected to work independently identify and pitch ideas, interview staff and external partners, and use photography, video, and graphic design to create compelling digital stories for social media and website use. This position will be self-driven but work closely under the supervision of DFG’s Communications Director. The position will be best suited for someone with passion for biodiversity conservation and science communication, strong storytelling skills and writing skills, and comfort working with a diverse community of partners including non-profits, academics, commercial fishing, hunting and fishing groups, and Environmental Justice and Indigenous communities.
