We seek an Associate Director for the Biology Core Curriculum Program (Biocore), an undergraduate honors biology program. This is a 12-month, renewable (non-tenure track) position within the College of Letters and Science working with the Departments of Botany and Integrative Biology. This person will manage and teach within the Biocore program, supervise Biocore staff, regularly engage with students, and ensure the Biocore community thrives. As a four-semester course sequence, Biocore collaborates with academic departments across campus creating student opportunities in scientific research, integrative learning, outreach, and leadership opportunities. The person in this position will apply their expertise in biological science, research, and pedagogy to student learning through a multi-semester laboratory curriculum that emphasizes the process of science, research, group collaboration, and science communication (written and oral). They will lead activities, including classroom instruction, and curriculum development. They will also serve as an educational innovator and collaborate with faculty, staff, and teaching assistants to develop and improve pedagogical approaches in the classroom. This position will provide leadership for the recruitment and admission of students into Biocore, and work collaboratively with the Faculty Director on the program's strategic goals and recruitment of faculty instructors. The person in this position will have opportunities to contribute to program assessment and community outreach. Biocore is a High Impact Practice, Honors, undergraduate bioscience program that supports undergraduate students who are highly motivated to learn biology. Students in the program complete a sequence of courses across four semesters and are eligible to earn the Biocore Certificate. This includes four lecture courses and two of the three laboratory courses. The person in this position actively engages with all seven courses in the Biocore sequence to ensure they achieve the program's overall learning objectives and goals. They will also oversee other Biocore extracurriculars and the introductory course for first-year students.
