About The Position

The position involves conducting a variety of routine and non-routine research assignments and experiments in a high containment facility, specifically at Biosafety Levels 3 or 4. The role requires a team lead for technical staff, coordinating teamwork for maximum effectiveness, and overseeing daily husbandry care for multiple small and large species in a high-containment environment. The individual will ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulatory statutes regarding human-animal care and use, assist in developing training for special techniques, and perform veterinary technical services such as tissue sampling, blood draws, anesthesia, and injections on various laboratory animal species. The position also involves assisting principal investigators and veterinarians in technical and surgical procedures, maintaining knowledge of biohazard and containment operations, and monitoring overall facility operations including security, safety, and maintenance standards. Additionally, the individual will maintain all animal and non-animal records and documents, provide general technical assistance to animal care and research staff, and uphold professional interpersonal skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in basic science or equivalent and 2 years of related experience, or a Master's degree in basic science or related field with no experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Licensed Vet Tech and/or bachelor’s degree in basic science.
  • Experience in ABSL-3 and/or ABSL-4 environments.
