Corteva Agriscience has an exciting opportunity for a Bioanalytical Research Scientist in the Metabolomics group in Crop Health R&D located in Indianapolis, IN. We are looking for a scientist who will leverage their expertise in state-of-the-art LC-MS and bioanalytical analysis to collaborate on early and late discovery project teams advancing microbially derived sustainable crop protection and biological agents related to live microbes and natural products.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. or equivalent experience in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Natural Product Chemistry, Pharmacognosy, or related scientific discipline
  • Experience with sample preparation techniques for complex biological matrices
  • Bioanalytical assay development experience
  • Skilled and experienced with LC-MS and separations of either small molecules or proteins
  • Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • History of highly effective communication, interpersonal skills, and teamwork
  • Initiative-taker/ conscientious / inquisitive scientific partner

Nice To Haves

  • 2-5 years experience doing quantitative bioanalytical method development in academia or industry
  • Experience analyzing secondary metabolite production and/or metabolic pathways
  • Experience with software such as R, mzMine, compound discoverer, molecular networking, or MarkerView for data visualization and statistical analysis
  • Knowledge/experience with central carbon metabolism and its interplay with secondary metabolic pathways
  • Experience with targeted protein quantitation by mass spec and/or quantitative proteomics
  • Experience with sample preparation and analyses for bioprocess engineering, biotechnology, or fermentations of microbial systems

Responsibilities

  • Develop or improve quantitative bioanalytical methods for fermentation broths, cell extracts and other biological matrices to analyze small molecule metabolites, pathway intermediates, and proteins associated with microbially driven programs ranging from early discovery to commercial stage.
  • Design and implement validation protocols for small molecule bioanalysis leveraging UPLC, LC-MS, metabolomics, proteomics, lipidomics, and other bioanalytical techniques, along with troubleshooting and maintenance of associated instrumentation.
  • Act as bioanalytical subject matter expert for immediate team, providing technical leadership and mentorship to other analytical scientists and technicians.
  • Design and implement validation protocols for small molecule bioanalysis leveraging UPLC, LC-MS, metabolomics, proteomics, lipidomics, and other bioanalytical techniques, along with troubleshooting and maintenance of associated instrumentation.
  • Deliver internal and external presentations and publications highlighting results and innovation.
