About the position
The Apprentice Biomedical Technologist position at Blanchard Valley Hospital is designed to assist the Biomedical Engineering group in maintaining and repairing medical equipment in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role involves hands-on work with biomedical equipment, ensuring its safety and reliability, while also providing support to customers regarding equipment maintenance and purchasing decisions.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventive maintenance, repairs, and upgrades to biomedical equipment to ensure safety and reliability.
- Maintain complete and accurate records for all repairs, preventive maintenance, and upgrades on biomedical equipment to meet regulatory requirements.
- Diagnose and repair biomedical equipment using cost-effective and reliable parts to maximize uptime and safety.
- Stay current on training and cross-train others to expand the department's scope of coverage.
- Maintain the department and tools in a neat and orderly fashion to ensure a safe and productive working environment.
- Assist customers with the purchase, maintenance, costs, and end-of-life determination of biomedical equipment to ensure safe and accurate service.
- Adhere to policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies.
Requirements
- Ability to be trained in medical equipment repair and medical terminology.
- Valid driver's license required, with the need to obtain an Ohio driver's license within 30 days of residency.
- Positive service-oriented interpersonal and communication skills.
Nice-to-haves
- Enrolled in AA Certification in Biomedical Engineering preferred.
