About The Position

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Property and Casualty Binding Underwriter. This role involves managing a portfolio of accounts, driving new and renewal business opportunities, and making sound underwriting decisions in alignment with established guidelines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Risk Management, Actuarial Science, Business Administration, or a related discipline. Equivalent work experience will also be considered.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Property and Casualty Underwriting.
  • Possession of state Property & Casualty and/or surplus line licenses (minimum requirements must be met).

Nice To Haves

  • Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Underwrite new and renewal property and casualty business, ensuring compliance with underwriting standards and guidelines.
  • Evaluate risks by analyzing coverage value, location, usage, safety features, and other relevant factors to determine appropriate terms and premiums.
  • Manage a portfolio of property and casualty accounts, ensuring active oversight and adherence to performance targets.
  • Collaborate with brokers to create customized insurance solutions and maintain long-term professional relationships.
  • Provide premium forecasts and business plans to support budgetary and performance objectives.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, emerging risks, and regulatory changes to refine underwriting strategies.
  • Execute marketing activities, attend seminars, and participate in training to remain updated on market dynamics and underwriting trends.
  • Ensure compliance with state and country laws, as well as carrier and organizational guidelines.
  • Review and assess new and renewal business submissions, ensuring timely and accurate decision-making.
  • Communicate with brokers to gather necessary information, negotiate terms, and provide exceptional service.
  • Analyze data to identify exposures and make informed underwriting decisions.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers and other stakeholders to foster business growth.
  • Monitor and manage the performance of the assigned portfolio, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Stay updated on market conditions and adjust underwriting practices as needed.
