About The Position

RRD is seeking an experienced Bindery Operator to join our team, with openings available on 2nd and 3rd shifts (shift differential provided), and training on 1st shift. This role involves setting up, adjusting, and operating various binding equipment, including inkjet and mailing devices, case making and decorating equipment, folders, cutters, collators, stitchers, drills, and binding/gluing machines. The Bindery Operator may also set up automatic bindery machines that contain multiple functions and station capabilities, such as power paper cutters, power collators, and power folders. The operator will inspect equipment for safety issues and may operate automatic adhesive binding machines (perfect binders) that perform numerous interrelated process stations. Responsibilities include making necessary adjustments to coordinate multiple work stations on a single machine, as well as monitoring quality, output, and productivity.

Requirements

• Familiarity with different paper weights, sizes, kinds, and colors.
• Basic mathematics skills to understand dimensional requirements.
• Ability to use standard and specialized tools to adjust and maintain bindery machines.
• Skill in making adjustments to powered machines using hand tools.
• Ability to read and interpret written work instructions for machine operations.
• Knowledge of operating procedures for bindery equipment.
