About The Position

The Bindery – Operator I is responsible for operating and maintaining machines in a safe and efficient manner, while maintaining production logs and 1st Articles while leading a crew.

Requirements

  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Basic computer skills..
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow work instructions, job tickets, safety rules and ship reports.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, use a ruler and calculator and count.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively.
  • Must have strong problem-solving skills.
  • Must have at least 5 years experience as a Perfect Binder/Saddle Stitch Operator
  • Ability to remain organized and self-directed in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to learn computer applications as necessary for the position.
  • Ability to read, interpret and follow verbal and written instructions, work procedures and other related materials.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including strong customer service skills.
  • Must communicate appropriate information accurately and clearly as needed.
  • Required to sit, stand or walk for prolonged periods of time.
  • Use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects or use controls, tools or equipment.
  • May require the ability to use a keyboard and other office equipment.
  • May require specific vision abilities that include close vision.
  • May be required to perform concentrated work for extended periods of time.
  • May be required to lift, carry or exert items or objects of reasonable weight.
  • May be required to perform duties beyond standard business hours.
  • High School Diploma or GED

Responsibilities

  • Properly set up and operate machines, such as Perfect Binder and Saddle Stitcher, safely and efficiently.
  • Read and understand special instructions on job tickets and ship reports to accurately process customer orders.
  • Read, follow, and interpret work instructions, job tickets, and ship reports accurately.
  • Lead and coach crew members to maximize efficiency.
  • Verify and guide temporary employees in performing tasks.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on equipment weekly.
  • Meet or exceed waste and throughput standards set by the company.
  • Effectively troubleshoot mechanical and operational problems on equipment
