The position involves operating and adjusting various auxiliary binding machines and ensuring quality and productivity in the production process.

Requirements

• Ability to read and interpret written work orders or job specifications containing bindery requirements.
• Must be able to calculate distances, clearances, and fits in combining machines.
• Skill in using standard and specialized tools to adjust and maintain bindery machines.
• General knowledge of complex bindery machines.
• Thorough knowledge of setup, operating requirements, procedures, capabilities and limitations of bindery machines.
• Knowledge of quality and machining requirements of various types of paper stock.
• Skill in setting up and adjusting machines for finishing operations.

Responsibilities

• Set up, adjust and operate a variety of auxiliary binding machines containing several cutting heads and control surfaces.
• Set up automatic bindery machines with multiple functions and station capabilities.
• Inspect equipment for safety issues.
• Operate automatic adhesive binding machines (perfect binders).
• Make needed adjustments to coordinate the multiple work stations on a single machine.
• Direct crew through all aspects of production.
• Monitor quality, output and productivity.
