As a 1st Shift Experienced Bindery Operator, you will set up, adjust, and operate a variety of auxiliary binding machines containing several cutting heads, control surfaces, or other attachments. This includes operating automatic bindery machines that can be electromechanically combined with other equipment to produce a complete bindery and finishing unit that processes printed sheets into final products such as books, catalogs, manuals, directories, and magazines. You will also inspect equipment for safety issues, make necessary adjustments, direct crew through all aspects of production, and monitor quality, output, and productivity. Additionally, you will be responsible for training and supporting new and existing team members.

Requirements

• Ability to read and interpret written work orders or job specifications containing bindery requirements.
• Must be able to calculate distances, clearances, and fits in combining machines.
• Skill in using standard and specialized tools to adjust and maintain bindery machines.
• General knowledge of complex bindery machines to perform standard and specialized folds of printed materials.
• Thorough knowledge of setup, operating requirements, procedures, capabilities, and limitations of bindery machines.
• Knowledge of quality and machining requirements of various types of paper stock.

Responsibilities
