About The Position
The Bindery Advanced Equipment Operator position at Publix Printing Services is essential for the finishing and packaging of printed products, including direct mail items. This role involves the setup and assembly of various components into a final product, which can be done either manually or through the operation of advanced bindery and finishing equipment. The operator will work with a range of machinery, including a 60-inch pressure sensitive/heat laminator, shrink-wrapper, 30-inch cutter, and several other specialized devices such as a 40-bin collator and ink jet addressing/tabbing machine. In this position, the operator is responsible for accurately reading and comprehending written job specifications that detail the production requirements for each job. This includes ensuring the safe and efficient setup and operation of all equipment, as well as the manual assembly of components into a final kitted product. The operator must also ensure that the final products are packaged correctly, labeled accurately, and palletized safely. Additionally, maintaining the cleanliness and operational efficiency of all equipment and work areas is a critical responsibility. The operator will also be tasked with timely and accurate reporting of production time and materials using shop-floor data collection terminals. The role requires physical stamina, as it involves lifting up to 70 pounds, extended periods of walking or standing, and performing tasks in various positions. The operator must possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and be able to work effectively in a team environment. Problem-solving abilities and adaptability to changing workloads are also essential, as the incumbent may be required to work variable schedules, including weekends and holidays, depending on production demands.
