About The Position

The mission of Hope the Mission (HTM) is to prevent, reduce, and eliminate poverty, hunger, and homelessness by offering immediate assistance and long-term solutions. The Bin Runner will be responsible for providing individuals experiencing homelessness access to their assigned bins for the storage of their personal property at the Storage Center. The Bin Runner will manage the bin check in/out process including assigning, pulling and preparing bins for clients.

Requirements

  • Lived experience preferred
  • Minimum of one year of experience in customer service preferred
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills, including customer service focus in working with all internal organizational levels and external contacts
  • Experience working with people experiencing homelessness or other vulnerable populations preferred
  • Must be highly collaborative within a team environment
  • Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to coordinate multiple projects/tasks simultaneously in a within tight department metrics and deadlines. Possess ability to manage conflicting priorities and projects
  • Exceptional organizational skills detail-oriented to review information and ensure accuracy
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
  • Ability to work with diverse populations
  • Ability to proficiently operate a PC, MAC, fax, and telephone
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis
  • Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, storage bins and reach overhead

Responsibilities

  • Maintain storage facility; facility must be clean and orderly at all times.
  • Take inventory of client belongings
  • Pull participant’s bins in respective order of arrival; return bins to proper location
  • Assist with monitoring of assigned sorting area for bins
  • Ensure bins are devoid of all prohibited items
  • Execute voluntary and involuntary pack-outs
  • Bag, tag, and store all involuntary pack-outs
  • Receive, tag, and store all unattended property received from public right-of-way cleaning
  • Keep proper records of all participants and personal property items stored in facility
  • Release personal property items to participants after ownership has been attained and affidavit has been signed.
  • Assists with removal of trash and debris in and around the center when necessary
  • Guides and directs clients and visitors to the proper destination at the center
  • Implement crises de-escalation interventions as appropriate
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor
