About The Position

The BIM/VDC Detailer position at B&I Contractors, Inc. involves utilizing advanced software tools to create and manage detailed drawings for large-scale commercial projects. The role is essential for ensuring that all drawings are accurate, constructible, and compliant with project specifications. Requirements

  • Minimum of one (1) year work experience in commercial construction.
  • Proficiency with software tools including AutoCAD, Navisworks, Revit, MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and other related 3D detailing software tools.
  • A Degree in design/drafting or equivalent work experience.
  • Demonstrates honesty, integrity, and personal accountability.
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to interface with construction industry professionals with professionalism and credibility.
  • Must be able to perform physical tasks such as walking, standing, sitting, stooping, kneeling, climbing stairs, reaching overhead, pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying up to 10 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with additional BIM/VDC tools and software.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures in construction environments.

Responsibilities

  • Uses Navisworks to help coordinate locations and solve conflicts.
  • Demonstrates proficiency or willingness to learn current and future BIM/VDC tools.
  • Shares knowledge of relevant software tools to maintain productivity.
  • Establishes drawings and document formats required for project planning.
  • Understands and complies with job-specific contractual scope of work and requirements.
  • Verifies that all drawings are complete and constructible.
  • Provides consistent drawings of acceptable quality and accuracy for field distribution.
  • Creates accurate record drawings from red-lined field markups.
  • Changes visibility of backgrounds to ensure drawings are clean and legible.
  • Plans work effectively within constraints of cost, schedule, and information provided.
  • Provides accurate documents and models representing real-world installations.
  • Ensures accurate and coordinated shop drawings and assists with spool drawing processes.
  • Participates in internal and external project meetings.
  • Works in conformity with company Trade BIM/VDC Standards and practices.
  • Participates in the improvement of BIM/VDC Standards and practices.
  • Comprehends construction documents to understand trade-specific constraints.
  • Uses Revit and Fabrication CADMEP to produce accurate production-level drawings.
  • Communicates effectively with co-workers, project personnel, and customers.
