Requirements

  • 3–5+ years of hospice or home health billing experience required.
  • Proficient in EMR/Practice Management systems, Medicare DDE, and clearinghouse portals.
  • Strong understanding of hospice billing concepts: NOE/NOTR MSP validation Medicare cap Hospice levels of care billing Claim corrections and appeals
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and team leadership skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and reporting tools.

Nice To Haves

  • 1–2+ years of supervisory or lead experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Medicare hospice coverage, regulations, and billing requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the day‑to‑day work of the hospice billing team, including claim preparation, submission, corrections, and follow‑up.
  • Ensure timely and accurate billing to Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial, Managed Care, and other payors.
  • Review claims for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with hospice billing regulations.
  • Monitor claim edits, rejections, and denials; oversee timely resolution and resubmission.
  • Maintain clean AR aging by ensuring regular follow‑up and adherence to organizational benchmarks.
  • Ensure all billing complies with Medicare hospice rules (caps, LUPA equivalents, GIP, Respite, continuous care billing requirements).
  • Review and reconcile month‑end billing activity with Finance.
  • Support Medicare cap monitoring and reporting; partner with Finance on projections and adjustments.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and development to billing specialists.
  • Conduct performance reviews, monitor productivity metrics, and ensure adherence to quality standards.
  • Train new team members on hospice billing processes, systems, and regulatory updates.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
  • Stay current with CMS, Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs), and Medicaid billing regulations.
  • Partner with Compliance to ensure adherence to hospice CoPs, documentation requirements, and coding guidelines.
  • Conduct regular audits of claims and documentation to ensure clean, compliant billing.
  • Participate in internal and external audits.
