Billing Specialist - This is not a remote position.
About The Position

Billing Specialists are tasked with the submission, follow-up, and resolution of insurance claims for commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, and patient accounts. This role also encompasses all patient account collection activities, including generating statements, arranging payment plans, collecting payments, and monitoring and pursuing delinquent accounts. Specialists must ensure that all billing practices are prompt, ethical, and adhere to organizational, payer, and governmental regulations and guidelines.
Nice To Haves
- Two (2) to five (5) years of previous medical billing and/or outpatient claims experience
- Certificate in Medical Billing/Coding and/or Associate’s Degree in Health Information Management, Business, or related field
- CCA, CCS, CCS-P, RHIT, RHIA, CPC, COC, and/or CPB credentials
- Proficiency in ICD-10 and CPT medical billing codes
- Familiar with eCW and/or Medicare/Medicare Advantage billing and/or optometry billing experience
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
Responsibilities
- Insurance claim submission, follow-up, and resolution for commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, and patient accounts
- All patient account collection efforts, including, but not limited to, generating patient statements, making payment arrangements, collecting on accounts, monitoring, and pursuing delinquent accounts
- Ensures billing practices that are prompt, ethical, and compliant with organizational, payer, and governmental regulations and guidelines
