The Position: We are seeking a full-time Billing Support Specialist. This position reports directly to the Billing and Compliance Manager and Billing Specialist Lead. This position is primarily responsible for accuracy of client information, MC eligibility, and funding entered on the EHR and IBHIS system, billing third party payers, and creating a report of ineligible clients

Requirements

  • Computer literary including proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications, such as Excel, Word, and Access.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based setting
  • Detail-oriented, analytical, demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness, resourceful, reliable, able to adhere to deadlines, self-starter and be able to work independently.
  • Must have a good sense of judgment as pertaining to the position.
  • Must have relevant medical billing experience, preferably in mental health.
  • Experience with EHRS, EXYM, and Department of Mental Health (DMH) billing procedures highly preferred.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s or Associate's Degree in relevant field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews and reconciles client’s information for new cases entered in the EHR and IBHIS system.
  • Responsible on checking new client’s MC eligibility.
  • Downloads MC eligibility from Covivitas into the EHR every 1st and 15th of the month.
  • Verifies clients coming up as MC ineligible and corrects claims due to ineligibility as required.
  • Creates a monthly list of DMH clients that become ineligible for Medi-Cal funding and submits report to the Community Outreach Manager and Administrative Manager.
  • Daily, reviews EHR error report, Activities Needing Attention, and addresses errors in order for billing to be processed for payment.
  • Review and submit claims for clients with OHC to third party payers using EHRS EXYM and Availity on a weekly basis.
  • Verifies insurance coverage for clients with OHC and sends invoices.
  • Sends out and follows up on CMS1500 forms as needed.
