About The Position
Mat's Pharmacy and Medical Supply, a recognized leader in the healthcare community, is seeking a dedicated Billing Specialist for its Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Department. This full-time position is essential in ensuring that our customers receive the quality of life they deserve through proper billing and insurance processes. The DME Billing Specialist acts as a crucial liaison between the DME Department and patients' insurance companies, verifying DME clean claims and ensuring that proper payments are made. This role is vital to our mission of providing critical medications and medical supplies to our community, especially as we continue to operate as an essential provider. In this position, the Billing Specialist will be responsible for maintaining compliance with medical standards set forth by insurance companies and HIPAA regulations. Daily tasks include submitting claims to insurance companies, investigating issues with unpaid claims or denied payments, and reviewing authorizations for rental equipment. The specialist will also verify and confirm all DME retail and insurance sales, contact insurance providers for clarifications, and obtain necessary paperwork from healthcare providers, such as prescriptions and Certificates of Medical Necessity. The role requires a detail-oriented individual who can maintain accurate records of incoming payments, collect payments from insurances and patients, and work closely with the Accounts Receivable department for invoicing. The Billing Specialist will also be involved in medical reviews, appeals, and reconsiderations as needed, ensuring that all processes are handled efficiently and accurately.
