About The Position

The Billing Representative position at Stony Brook CPMP Patient Accounts is essential for providing administrative support to ensure accurate billing and payer reimbursements. The role is based in East Setauket, NY, and may allow for remote work at the manager's discretion. This full-time position operates Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5 PM, with a pay range of $23.00 to $28.74 per hour, depending on experience and education.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED.
• Minimum of two years medical billing related experience in a physician’s office or graduation from a medical billing program.
• Excellent expressive and written communication skills.
• Highly organized.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Word and Excel.

Nice To Haves

• Computer literate with knowledge of medical insurance policies, reimbursement, and medical terminology.
• Experience with insurance websites.

Responsibilities

• Prepare reconsideration to payers.
• Process payer rejections.
• Review payer payments.
• Complete special department/physician projects.
• Prepare billing error corrections, refunds, and itemized bills for patients and attorneys.
• Interact with third party payers for verification of reimbursement benefits and claim status.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by management.
