About The Position

The Billing Representative III plays a crucial role in the Central Billing Office by managing accounts receivable, submitting claims, and following up on unpaid balances. This position requires effective communication with patients and insurance companies to ensure accurate billing and resolution of claims. The representative will also assist in training and special projects, contributing to a positive patient experience and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 3 years of experience in medical billing, accounts receivable, or related duties.
  • Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding.
  • Experience with medical billing software.
  • Basic math skills and English grammar proficiency.
  • Light and accurate keyboarding skills, with a typing speed of 35 words per minute or greater.

  • Leadership experience in a billing or healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

  • Submit claims and follow up on unpaid balances from insurance or patients.
  • Correct errors and enter claim information accurately.
  • Submit authorization/precertification requests with insurance companies.
  • Follow up on denied claims and submit appeals as necessary.
  • Cross-cover other areas in the office as assigned by management.
  • Perform billing tasks including data entry, claim review, and accounts receivable follow-up.
  • Provide input on system edit processes and billing procedures to maximize revenues.
  • Utilize CBO Pathways to resolve unpaid or incorrectly paid claims.
  • Review reports to identify revenue opportunities and unpaid claims.
  • Communicate with providers, patients, and coders to ensure correct processing of claims.
  • Participate in workgroups and meetings, and attend required training classes.
  • Assist professional billing staff with difficult and escalated issues.
  • Appeal complex denials by reviewing payer policies and medical records.
  • Make corrections to the system to meet payer requirements and re-submit claims.
