The Billing Clerk - Data Processing will be responsible for but not limited to managing all patient payments and internal billing for our house accounts within a regulated healthcare environment. This key role involves direct interaction with patients to discuss payments and update account information, ensuring HIPAA compliance, as well as collaborating with other departments to support overall operational efficiency. You will need to be highly organized, detail-oriented, and possess excellent communication skills.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1–3 years of experience in a customer service, administrative, or accounting/billing environment.
  • Proven experience with customer service, particularly handling financial or account discussions over the phone.
  • Demonstrated understanding of patient confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications, including email, word processing, and spreadsheet software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite or Google Workspace).
  • Strong verbal and written communication, detail-orientation, and the ability to work efficiently and accurately in a dynamic, fast-paced setting.
  • Must be willing and able to obtain at least a Pharmacy Technician Trainee License shortly after hire if they do not already possess it.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT), registered with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP).
  • 1–3 years of pharmacy technician billing experience in a 503A or 503B work environment.
  • Proficiency with Pharmacy Management System (PMS), such as LifeFile.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and process patient payments, including updating payments in our system and handling credit card declines.
  • Answer phone calls and emails from both patients and providers regarding billing questions.
  • Process billing for house accounts that are set up for clinics.
  • Conduct weekly audits to ensure payments have been made on all orders that were sent out.
  • Assist other departments as needed to ensure smooth operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and required to support departmental and organizational goals.
