About The Position

The Billing Account Specialist at Dental Health Associates of Madison is responsible for providing accurate and friendly customer service and billing support to patients, providers, insurers, and staff. Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent; Associate degree preferred.
  • Two years of dental experience preferred.
  • Insurance experience preferred.
  • Experience with computer software applications and ability to learn quickly.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to complete basic mathematical computations.
  • Demonstrated prioritization, organizational, and attention to detail skills.
  • Skilled at multi-tasking and making sound judgments.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, staff, insurance organizations, and the public.
  • Demonstrated ability to remain positive and calm in all circumstances.
  • Ability to work independently without constant supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Provide timely, courteous and helpful assistance to patients regarding billing/account questions.
  • Update demographic and account information, obtaining missing information for insurance and collection processes.
  • Identify recurring problems in registration, billing, and insurance, documenting actions taken and notifying the billing manager of concerns.
  • Process claims, preauthorizations, and follow up as needed.
  • Research insurance plans to verify accuracy of system information.
  • Research electronic claim errors.
  • Process all payments and adjustments per contract or plan agreement.
  • Analyze and audit patient accounts, determining problems and verifying insurance payments and adjustments.
  • Remain knowledgeable of current practices and procedures within clinical areas and the billing department.
  • Bring compliance concerns regarding contract reimbursement agreements to the Billing Manager's attention.
  • Review overpayment balances for account correction or refund.
  • Distribute billing office mail as needed.
  • Prepare bank deposits.
  • Work well in a team environment and build positive relationships with customers.
  • Multi-task and make sound judgments.
  • Assist with filing and other projects as assigned by the Billing Manager.
  • Assist with other billing department functions as needed.
