About The Position

The Bill of Material (BOM) Management Specialist at Whelen Engineering is responsible for managing and maintaining the accuracy and completeness of the Bill of Materials for the company's products. This role requires collaboration with design engineers and production teams to ensure that all components and materials are correctly specified, reflecting current designs and compliance with engineering standards.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Bachelor's degree and 0-2 years of experience in General Engineering desired.
  • Working knowledge of BOM management and ERP systems; ability to interpret technical drawings.
  • Active user/experience with engineering software including AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with PDM and PLM software and processes is preferred.
  • Experience with project management tools such as Microsoft Project and Jira.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work well with other departments.

Responsibilities

  • Create, modify and maintain part numbers in the ERP system.
  • Maintain consistency and accuracy in describing parts and part numbers and ensure compliance with drawing format and part naming conventions.
  • Convert data received from various departments into the required format for entry into the ERP system.
  • Create, modify and manage complete and accurate Bills of Material (BOMs) for all products.
  • Collaborate with design engineers to ensure BOMs reflect current design.
  • Support Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and manage BOM revisions to reflect changes in design, material or suppliers.
  • Participate in the change order process and new product introduction, taking responsibility for ERP-related activities.
  • Maintain common areas and provide general support to visitors.
  • Monitor, order and replenish office and cafeteria supplies as required.
  • Serve as point of contact for building Maintenance and Housekeeping.
  • Deliver mail and packages.
  • Perform additional duties as deemed necessary by management.
