About the Role: As an Tutor at Tutor Me Education, you’ll provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP). We are currently hiring for multiple positions across all cities in Los Angeles, CA Details: In-Person Tutoring in Los Angeles, CA Schedule: 10 hours per month 1.25 hour per session Rate is betweem $25 and $35 per hour Ideal Candidate: Bilingual in English and Spanish (required) Experience working with students with intellectual disabilities and IEPs Strong background in foundational math instruction (early elementary level) Experience teaching math concepts and supporting word problem comprehension Knowledge of handwriting development and writing instruction (grammar, organization, sentence structure) Experience supporting executive functioning skills, including task initiation, organization, and follow-through Ability to create and implement structured, individualized lesson plans Patient, engaging, and energetic (“bubbly”) personality Skilled in motivating students who may procrastinate or disengage when tasks feel challenging

Requirements

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (required)
  • Experience working with students with intellectual disabilities and IEPs
  • Strong background in foundational math instruction (early elementary level)

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement structured lesson plans aligned with the student’s IEP goals
  • Provide targeted math instruction at a foundational level, including number sense, basic operations, and word problems
  • Break down math concepts into clear, manageable steps using visuals and guided practice
  • Support handwriting development, including letter formation, spacing, and legibility
  • Provide writing instruction focused on sentence structure, grammar, and organization
  • Teach and reinforce executive functioning skills, including organization, task initiation, and completion
  • Maintain structured sessions with clear routines, expectations, and consistent pacing
  • Provide encouragement and accountability to keep the student engaged and on task
  • Incorporate student interests (e.g., boxing, football, Dallas Cowboys) to increase motivation
  • Create a positive, supportive, and engaging learning environment
  • Monitor progress and adjust instruction based on student needs
  • Communicate regularly with caregivers regarding progress and strategies
