FlexStaff is partnering with a leading organization in Flushing, Queens, to find a dedicated and compassionate Bilingual Social Worker for their Children’s Services team. Social Worker – Children’s Services (Bilingual Spanish Location: Flushing, Queens, NY Schedule: Full-time, Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 3:00 P.M Compensation: $43.00 per hour (35 hour work week) Job Summary: As a vital member of a dedicated Children’s Services team, you will provide compassionate support to children with illnesses and disabilities, helping families access essential services and develop strategies to thrive. Your expertise will foster resilience, promote independence, and create a brighter future for children and their families. This role involves significant advocacy and direct support within the Flushing/Queens community.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in social work (MSW) from an accredited program.
  • New York State Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) certification is required.
  • Must be Bilingual in Spanish (read, write, and speak fluently).
  • Prior experience working directly with children and families, especially those with illnesses and disabilities, is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities efficiently, and maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Flexibility to travel within the Flushing/Queens area for home visits.
  • A compassionate, proactive attitude with sound judgment and strong problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial evaluations and ongoing assessments to understand each child’s unique needs and family dynamics.
  • Develop personalized social service plans and recommendations tailored to support children’s development and well-being.
  • Assist families in obtaining vital resources such as housing assistance, Medicaid, respite care, assistive technology, and recreational programs.
  • Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams to plan, implement, and monitor Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs) and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Act as a trusted advocate, facilitating clear communication and coordination between families, schools, and various service providers.
  • Conduct home visits to assess environments, provide support, and build rapport with families.
  • Actively attend team meetings and participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of all cases, ensuring strict confidentiality and compliance with all regulations.
  • Support student transitions between educational settings and participate in community and in-service training activities.
