About The Position
Yakima Valley College (YVC) is seeking a dedicated and organized individual for the position of Secretary Senior within the Arts and Sciences Division. This full-time, permanent, in-person classified position plays a crucial role in supporting both departmental faculty and the broader Yakima Valley community. The Secretary Senior will report directly to the Program Support Supervisor 2 and will be responsible for a variety of administrative and general support tasks that are essential for the smooth operation of the division. The starting salary for this position is $3,096 per month, with periodic increments up to $4,093, along with a comprehensive state benefits package. The primary functions of the Secretary Senior include providing administrative support to faculty members in disciplines such as Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Nutrition, Physics, and Physical Sciences, as well as assisting the MESA program. This role requires a proactive approach to managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, ensuring that all organizational systems are efficient and effective. The successful candidate will be expected to greet and assist students, staff, faculty, and the general public, providing information and support in a friendly and positive manner, including the use of Spanish when applicable. In addition to administrative duties, the Secretary Senior will be involved in maintaining filing systems, preparing travel documents, ordering supplies, creating student stipends, and supporting MESA events and the STEM Club. The role also includes attending various meetings and participating in professional development opportunities. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable educational environment.
