Requirements

  • Licensed in the State of Texas as an RN, Unrestricted Texas RN license or valid compact state licensure.
  • BLS (CPR & AED) Certified.
  • 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of medical practice and care.
  • Knowledge of examination, diagnostic and treatment room procedures.
  • Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments.
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform selected nursing and administrative duties, assisting physicians and other providers as part of the clinical care team.
  • Conduct pre-visit planning by reviewing and updating patient charts with recent test results and correspondence, determining needed services per practice protocol.
  • Confer with physician/provider on any incomplete patient tests/consults or other incomplete orders prior to the patient visit.
  • Prepare patients for examination and treatment by escorting them from the waiting area to the exam room, taking histories, and vital signs.
  • Prepare, clean, and maintain exam and treatment rooms.
  • Administer injections, draw blood, assist with EKGs, OB/GYN exams, and office procedures as needed.
  • Maintain sample medication records, administer medication upon physician/provider order, and respond to medication requests per practice protocol.
  • Prepare and maintain clinical supplies and equipment.
  • Triage and respond to patient communications within practice policy.
  • Assist with scheduling tests and treatments, pre-certifying patients for care/procedures, and processing referrals to other providers.
  • Coordinate care with disease management or case management programs as needed.
  • Contribute to the development of policies and procedures.
  • Participate in professional development activities and maintain professional affiliations.
  • Create, maintain, copy, and file patient files, records, and other information as needed.
  • Demonstrate respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment.
  • Promote effective working relations and work effectively as part of a team to facilitate the clinic's ability to meet its goals and objectives.
  • Attend all required safety training programs and can describe responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, specific job-related hazards.
  • Follow LCHS's exposure control plans/bloodborne and airborne pathogens.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of techniques, procedures, and correct use of protective barrier equipment (Universal Precautions).
  • Assure a safe environment by instituting appropriate control measures.
  • Attend annual education programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
