The Bilingual Resource Advisor Part Time will interview patients both inpatient and outpatient, to determine financial eligibility and screen for financial assistance. The advisor will counsel patients and/or families with empathy and concern and secure adequate resources for patients and families based upon assessed needs at the time of the interview. Additionally, the advisor will maintain a complete, accurate and systematic set of records for all financial transactions on all indigent patients and diligently and efficiently navigate systems essential for financial screenings.

  • Interview patients both inpatient and outpatient to determine financial eligibility and screen for financial assistance.
  • Counsel patients and/or families with empathy and concern and secure adequate resources for patients and families based upon assessed needs.
  • Maintain a complete, accurate and systematic set of records for all financial transactions on all indigent patients.
  • Diligently and efficiently navigate systems essential for financial screenings.
  • Experience in public contact work, preferably involving interviewing.
  • Healthcare billing experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Charity Care, NJ Medicaid Program, HIPAA, and EMTALA preferred.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to perform accurate and effective interviews.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional when interviewing and advising patients and families during periods of stress.
  • High level of analytical abilities necessary to assess patient needs while following policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.
  • Flexibility to cover other sites as needed.
