Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Graduate from an accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program is required.
  • Current Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certificate is required.
  • Current registration with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Must be able to pass a math test pertinent to retail pharmacy activities.
  • Current BLS /CPR certification is required.
  • Excellent communication skills and customer service skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, community, and the public.
  • Ability to perform duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Project management skills and understanding of 340b regulations, inventory management and managing a cash register.
  • Ability to remain calm under stressful conditions.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong typing and computer skills, including Windows, Excel, and accounting software.
  • Above average organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) years of previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician is preferred.
  • One (1) or more years of experience in community pharmacy is preferred.
  • One (1) or more years of experience in pharmacy logistics is preferred.
  • Bilingual preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist pharmacists by preparing, filling, and delivering medications.
  • Ensure the appropriateness of medication doses through accurate patient information entry.
  • Maintain adequate stock of medication and supplies with safety precautions.
  • Utilize proper filling techniques and prioritize tasks based on workload.
  • Process insurance adjudications and pre-authorizations promptly.
  • Complete daily and monthly activity checklists, including expired drug checks and cleaning.
  • Offer and document appropriate counseling time for patients.
  • Communicate effectively with physicians' offices and insurance companies.
  • Conduct weekly controlled substance cycle counts and document outcomes.
  • Participate in new employee education and training initiatives.
  • Engage in customer service with positivity and professionalism.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and follow up on unresolved issues.
  • Disseminate relevant updates and track non-stock requests.
  • Support 340b program inventory integrity and prescription file maintenance.
  • Perform cash collection procedures and reconcile prescription fills.
  • Respond to patient messages and support central fill pharmacy processes.
  • Embrace additional duties as assigned to support pharmacy operations.
