About The Position

The Bilingual Paralegal position at Metropolitan Family Services involves supporting attorneys in providing legal services and representation to justice-involved adults, particularly in areas such as expungement, family law, and employment. Requirements

  • Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university or higher, or ABA accredited paralegal certificate, or comparable experience.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.
  • Valid driver's license and proof of liability insurance with a good driving record.
  • Strong writing, recordkeeping, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Typing and computer operation skills sufficient to draft documents.
  • Ability to exercise appropriate independent judgment.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new systems and work effectively with diverse individuals.

Responsibilities

  • Support attorneys in providing legal services and representation in various case types.
  • Interview prospective clients to gather necessary information for legal work.
  • Assist attorneys in client representation and litigation while managing a high volume caseload.
  • Communicate with clients and draft pleadings, documents, and correspondence.
  • Manage court or administrative agency filing and scheduling.
  • Conduct factual investigations and gather documentary evidence.
  • Maintain accurate and timely updates of case files and data.
  • Develop knowledge of court and administrative agency practices in assigned areas.
  • Build positive relationships with court and agency personnel.
  • Participate in community education and public relations activities.
