Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of a certified Medical Assistant program or equivalent training is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical or healthcare setting.
  • Proven experience in both clinical and administrative tasks, including taking vitals, drawing blood, and performing basic lab tests.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and professional demeanor.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, insurance processing, and billing practices.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine medical procedures such as taking patient vitals (blood pressure, temperature, pulse), drawing blood, and administering injections.
  • Prepare and educate patients for medical procedures, ensuring they feel comfortable and informed.
  • Maintain examination rooms, ensuring they are clean, stocked, and ready for use.
  • Monitor patient progress and update medical records accurately using Electronic Health Records (EHR).
  • Manage patient appointment scheduling, ensuring a smooth patient flow and minimal wait times.
  • Handle phone inquiries, triage calls, and provide guidance to patients about medical concerns or office policies.
  • Verify patient insurance information, process billing, and submit claims to insurance providers.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
  • Interpret for the clinical staff when necessary, 'Spanish/English'.
  • Ensure all patient documentation is complete, accurate, and up-to-date.
  • Stay informed on the latest medical practices, certifications, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Ensure the practice meets all OSHA and safety standards.
