About The Position

Turn your knowledge of Medicaid into meaningful service. We’re hiring a Medicaid Assessor to support patients and providers alike! The Medicaid Assessor/Eligibility Navigator is responsible for assisting patients with Medicaid eligibility, enrollment, and renewal processes. This role focuses on helping patients maintain health insurance coverage, with special emphasis on supporting individuals and families at risk of losing Medicaid during redetermination periods. The Assessor/Navigator works closely with patients, the Arkansas Department of Human Services (DHS), and internal care teams to ensure continuity of coverage and access to carewhile supporting the Mission and Values of RVPCS.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a healthcare, social services, benefits, navigation, or related field required.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) required - Bilingual (Spanish/English or Marshallese) strongly preferred in many Arkansas regions.
  • Knowledge of Medicaid/ARKids First eligibility requirements or willingness to complete state training.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations with sensitivity and respect.
  • Proficient in computer use, including data entry and online portals (Access Arkansas).
  • Ability to handle protected health information (PHI) in a manner consistent with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Public Health, Human Services, or related field preferred.
  • Experience working in an FQHC (Federally Qualified Health Center), healthcare, or Medicaid enrollment environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and outreach to patients at risk of losing Medicaid coverage due to renewal or eligibility changes.
  • Provide one-on-one assistance to patients completing Medicaid, ARKids First, and other coverage applications or renewals.
  • Help patients gather required documentation (income, residency, household size, etc.) and submit to DHS.
  • Track deadlines and follow up with patients to prevent lapses in coverage.
  • Serve as a liaison between patients and DHS caseworkers when necessary.
  • Assist patients with coverage transitions if Medicaid is denied or discontinued (e.g, Marketplace, sliding fee scale).
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic health (EHR) or designated tracking system.
  • Collaborate with clinic staff (front desk, case managers, outreach) to identify patients needing assistance.
  • Provide culturally competent services, including working with interpreters if needed.
  • Participate in health fairs and community education sessions about Medicaid eligibility.
  • Stay informed on Arkansas Medicaid policy changes, renewal processes, and DHS requirements.
