The Lead Clinician at La Jornada oversees the Program’s clinical services, trains and supervises clinical staff and provides clinical supervision to the clinical team. The Lead Clinician provides case consultation and support to a multi-disciplinary team on behalf of the minors assigned to the program.

Requirements

  • Master’s or doctorate degree in psychology, social work, counseling, marriage and family counseling, or another relevant behavioral health discipline from and accredited program, university, or college where clinical experience is a program requirement.
  • Must be licensed to provide clinical services in the state where the care provider is located.
  • Two (2) years of postgraduate direct service delivery experience.
  • Must have supervisory experience.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish fluency
  • Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, internet search, people management programs, smart phones and tablets, printers, fax machines and photocopiers as well as software including word processing, spreadsheet and database programs.
  • Minimum automobile insurance coverage of $100,000/300,000 bodily liability coverage.
  • 21 years of age, a valid state driver’s license, reliable personal vehicle, and a good driving record.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Enthusiastic self-starter.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
  • Works well independently and as a team member.
  • Use of manual dexterity, tactile, visual, and audio acuity.
  • Use of repetitive motion, prolonged periods of sitting and standing, and sustained visual and mental applications and demands.
  • Occasional lifting (up to 25 pounds), bending, pulling, and carrying.
  • Ability to travel frequently and drive vehicle while sitting for extended periods, with frequency varying based on program demands.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all work in a manner consistent with the National Youth Advocate Program’s mission, values, and philosophies
  • Ensure that behavioral health specialists complete relevant training on evidence-based practices in mental and behavioral health care delivery.
  • Ensure that child-facing services are provided on-site and in a confidential manner.
  • Oversee clinical and/or counseling services delivery for unaccompanied alien children (UAC) and provide oversight for the unaccompanied child’s mental and emotional health
  • Provide supervision, guidance and consultation to assigned clinicians, perform case assignments and occasionally maintain a limited caseload
  • Ensure clinical assessments are completed within allotted ORR timeframes
  • Complete weekly audit of clinicians’ documentation, ensuring both ORR and CQI compliance
  • Support or actively participate in the delivery of orientations for children in care
  • Attend and provide clinician related trainings, including sexual abuse, sexual harassment and inappropriate sexual behavior, prevention of sexual abuse and Interim Final Rule (IFR) trainings
  • Coordinate clinical and family reunification services for children, including active involvement in discharge planning
  • Actively participate in documenting safety plans and Post 18 age out plans
  • Oversee and/ or actively participate in the process of reporting Child Level Events (CLEs) in accordance with existing policies and procedures, Ensure maintenance of UC electronic and physical files, including uploading documents in UC Portal, Evolv, and maintaining the corresponding physical file
  • Travel as needed, to provide and support the provision of services to, and on behalf of, youth and families in compliance with organizational, contract, and regulatory requirements
  • Establish and maintain a strong relationship with assigned foster parents, including ongoing contact with foster parents and assisting during emergency/ crisis situations
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
