About The Position

The Bilingual Kitchen Aide is responsible for ensuring the availability of clean dishes, cleaning the dining hall, washing dishes, pots, pans, and flatware, and resetting dining areas. The position will be responsible for preparing dining areas and kitchen for the next shift by cleaning and restocking dining areas and cooking stations. This is not necessarily an all-inclusive list of job-related responsibilities, duties, skills, efforts, requirements or working conditions. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year of previous experience as dish washer.
  • 1 year of previous experience working in a fast-paced restaurant; school cafeteria experience preferred.
  • 1 year of experience assisting to prepare dining areas and kitchen.
  • Knowledge of food handling and kitchen protocols and regulations.
  • Ability to perform all duties as required with or without an accommodation.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for cleaning kitchen tools, plates, and utensils.
  • Responsible for removing soiled plates and flatware from tables, washing them thoroughly, and resetting kitchen supplies for preparation.
  • Clean machines and appliances used in the kitchen, such as coffee makers, pots, and pans, mixers, etc.
  • Unload and store deliveries.
  • Clean food preparation areas as determined by law and company policy.
  • Ensure the availability of clean dishes by washing dishes, pots, pans, and flatware, and resetting dining areas.
  • Restock items, unload delivery trucks, help prepare cook stations, clean appliances and machines, empty and clean trash receptacles, and other duties, as needed.
  • Prepare dining areas and kitchen for next shift by cleaning and restocking dining areas and cook stations.
  • Operate the industrial dishwasher.
  • Wash and polish glassware and other implements by hand when necessary.
  • Empty and clean all trash receptacles.
  • Rotate dishes to reduce wear and tear on resources.
  • Clean dish storage.
  • Follow sanitation policies at all times.
  • Provide assistance to prep cook and other kitchen staff as needed, especially during peak times.
  • Perform opening, closing and side work.
  • Sweep and mopping floors, especially in the event that items are broken or spilled.
  • Report kitchen accidents or violations of food safety codes and procedures.
  • Report any sanitation or janitorial issues to appropriate party.
  • Assist to manage the inventory and order kitchen equipment and supplies.
  • Other task and responsibilities as assigned.
