About The Position

The Pasco School District No. 1 is seeking a Bilingual Instructional Paraeducator for the Resource Room at Columbia River Elementary School. This position involves working 3 hours a day, Monday through Friday, on a 180-day calendar. The salary ranges from $21.38 to $23.72 per hour, with additional pay for those holding an AA or BA degree. New hires must pass a fingerprint screening.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
  • Bilingual and/or Biliterate (Spanish), required.
  • Must meet one or more of the following: Associates degree (AAS, AA) or higher; Earned 72 college quarter credits or 48 semester credits in college level 100 or higher courses; Passing score on the Educational Testing Service (ETS) paraeducator assessment.
  • Prior paraeducator experience, college, or on-the-job experience preferred but not required.
  • Experience working with students who are special needs preferred but not required.
  • Valid First aid and/or CPR card for infants and children or willing to obtain.
  • Prior experience in a K-12 school setting preferred but not required.
  • Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) trained or willing to attend training.

Responsibilities

  • Use trauma-informed strategies to build safe, supportive relationships and respond to student needs with empathy.
  • Accurately collect and document data related to academic progress, behavior, and IEP goals.
  • Follow established behavior intervention plans and apply CPI-approved strategies to de-escalate challenging behaviors.
  • Assist in delivering teacher-directed instruction and reinforcement in academic, behavioral, and social-emotional areas.
  • Administer first aid to provide emergency care.
  • Provide one-on-one instruction or group instruction.
  • Assist classroom teacher and/or building administrator(s) with classroom management.
  • Prepare materials needed to conduct lessons.
  • Provide support or supervision during student arrival and/or departure.
  • Report misconduct on school property and/or school bus route(s).
  • Assist with light cleaning and supervising students during activities.
  • Adhere to District safety policies and procedures.
  • Attend and complete annual required training hours for paraeducator certification.
  • Maintain accurate and efficient student records within student information management system(s).
  • Translate verbal and/or written information for students, district personnel, and parents.
  • Assist with needs related to diapering, tube feeding, toileting, and lifting.
  • Participate in District meetings to communicate information and gain feedback.
  • Supervise students to ensure a safe and productive learning environment.
