PASCO SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 1 1215 WEST LEWIS ST PASCO, WASHINGTON 99301 PHONE (509) 543-6700 Open Date: 07/11/2025 Application Deadline/Close Date: 07/16/2025, or until filled POSITION: Bilingual Instructional Paraeducator: American Sign Language (ASL) (Multiple Positions) LOCATION: Rowena Chess Elementary School HOURS: 6.25 /day Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday 5.00 on Wednesday's 4.00 on Early Release Days 180-day calendar 2025-2026 School Year SALARY: $21.38 - $23.72 Salary Schedules AA Degree - $0.50/hour extra BA Degree $0.75/hour extra NEW HIRES ARE CONDITIONAL UPON PASSING A FINGERPRINT SCREENING QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: High School Diploma or equivalent, required. Bimodal bilingualism, required. Must meet one or more of the following: -Associates degree or higher; -Have earned 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at the 100 level or higher; and/or -Have passed the Educational Testing Service (ETS) paraeducator assessment. Demonstrated exemplary customer service and responsiveness Must complete annual required training hours Para Certificate hours Must be proficient in ASL (American Sign Language) Evidence of successful ability to work with the deaf/hearing impaired Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with staff, students, and patrons Demonstrated punctuality and an excellent work attendance record Must work within designated bounds of authority and confidentiality Ability to establish and maintain professional, cooperative, working relationships Must follow supervisory directions and employ personal initiative when necessary Ability to follow safe work practices and procedures CPI trained or willingness to be trained Ability to communicate with students using adaptive communication devices or willingness to learn Willingness to do playground duties and/or office tasks Working with special needs students; Must be willing to assist with needs related to working with special needs students such as diapering, tube feeding, toileting, catheters, lifting, etc. (Additional pay per CBA if completing these duties). QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED: (Qualifications which are not required, but would be useful to the position) College or on-the-job training experience as a paraeducator Willingness to do office tasks Willingness to study materials provided by supervisory personnel and/or take college classes to improve basic instructional skills Knowledge of elementary subject matter Experience working with special needs students First aid card preferred Letters and applications received after closing date will only be accepted and screened if the position remains unfilled .
