About The Position

This position is responsible for performing a variety of Human Resources functions with an emphasis on employee relations. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Requirements

  • Two (2) years of experience working in a Human Resources Department handling functions in employee relations or leave management.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of work experience in a Human Resources Department with a bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of state and federal labor legislation and experience responding to employee grievances.
  • Ability to prepare employee documentation, including disciplinary actions and performance appraisals, within the first three months of employment.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster positive employee engagement and partner with management.
  • Intermediate skills in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Intermediate to advanced written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at various levels throughout the organization.
  • Possess organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and be detail-oriented.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision and multitask.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to think logically and make sound decisions.
  • Ability to work extended hours, holidays, and/or weekends as needed.
  • Must be able to obtain a TWIC card within 30 days of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in handling performance appraisals.
  • Possess active HR Certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP).

Responsibilities

  • Investigating claims of harassment or other company policy violations.
  • Drafting and addressing disciplinary actions with employees.
  • Reviewing disciplinary activity to track employee relations metrics such as turnover, complaints, discipline, etc.
  • Identifying potential employee-relations issues and making recommendations to management.
  • Preparing employee separation notices and related documentation.
  • Coordinating and/or conducting employee-relations activities and programs including interpretation of policies, new employee orientation, employee engagement and employee recognition programs.
  • Staying abreast of changes in applicable employment laws.
  • Conducting stay and exit interviews, communicating findings to management.
  • Assisting with the performance appraisal process: orientation and year-end performance evaluations.
  • Responding to inquiries regarding the organization's processes, policies, procedures, and programs such as health and wellness benefits programs.
  • Serving as a backup to the Leave of Absence and Workers Compensation administrator.
  • Assisting Managers with drafting job descriptions and preparing documentation for staff replacement or additional staff requests.
  • Assisting employees with internal career opportunities including resume review and application submission.
  • Coordinating and conducting ongoing information and training sessions to develop employees.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.
