About The Position

The Bilingual Tutor position is a part-time role aimed at supporting students in their educational journey under the supervision of certified staff members. The tutor will work with students who are English learners and will be responsible for implementing instructional programs tailored to their needs. The position requires proficiency in English and at least one target language, such as Haitian/Creole, French, or Spanish. The tutor will meet with students regularly to provide small group instruction and will collaborate with certified staff to monitor student progress.

Requirements

• At least two years of college course work successfully completed.
• Ability to manage student programs under the supervision of a certified staff member.
• Proficient in English and the target language (Haitian/Creole/English, French/English, Spanish/English).
• Dependable.

Responsibilities

• Works with a certified staff member to ascertain the educational needs and plans an instructional program for assigned students.
• Under the supervision of a certified staff member, implements an instructional program for each assigned student.
• Meets with assigned students on a regularly scheduled basis to provide small group instruction in a push-in setting.
• Works collaboratively with certified staff members to discuss the progress of each assigned student.
• Keeps and maintains reports on student progress and records of mandated weekly instructional minutes for each student.
• Assumes responsibility for obtaining appropriate textbooks and other teaching materials from a certified staff member.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal and/or ESOL Teacher.

Benefits

• Compensation as determined by the contract between the Board of Education and the AFT, $18.00-$33.00 based on degree level.
