About The Position

The position involves supporting, monitoring, and assisting the EHS Manager and Plant team in identifying and controlling safety hazards. The role requires participation in the incident investigation process, keeping records of environmental, health & safety-related workplace incidents, and proposing corrective actions. The candidate will interact with Cornerstone EHS Origami software and develop training for associates on environmental, health & safety requirements to ensure compliance with plant EHS policies and applicable Federal and State regulations. Responsibilities also include identifying safety hazards, preparing reports with recommendations for corrective actions, coordinating annual occupational health exams, investigating incidents, conducting trend analysis, audits, and site inspections, and maintaining adequate safety supplies and equipment. The role emphasizes promoting a safety awareness culture and conducting safety training.

Requirements

  • Safety Degree preferred or other college course and/or safety certifications.
  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).
  • Excellent communication and advisory skills.
  • Knowledge of general occupational environmental, health and safety aspects of manufacturing/industrial work settings.
  • Current CPR/AED/First Aid certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Support and monitor the EHS Manager and Plant team on identifying and controlling safety hazards.
  • Enforce EHS policies and applicable regulatory standards.
  • Participate in the incident investigation process.
  • Keep records of environmental, health & safety-related workplace incidents and propose corrective actions.
  • Interact with Cornerstone EHS Origami software.
  • Develop and train associates on environmental, health & safety requirements.
  • Identify safety hazards and prepare reports of findings with recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Coordinate or assist with required annual occupational health exams.
  • Investigate and determine root cause of incidents.
  • Conduct trend analysis, audits, incident investigations, and site inspections.
  • Perform periodic visual storm water assessments.
  • Coordinate with responsible facility personnel to maintain safety supplies & equipment.
  • Render First Aid care to associates as needed.
  • Promote a safety awareness and hazard prevention culture.
  • Conduct new hire orientation and annual safety training.
  • Conduct and update Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) hazard assessments.
  • Evaluate job safety analysis on an annual basis.
  • Intervene in unsafe activities or operations.
  • Manage several work projects and activities under pressure.
  • Participate in and coordinate Behavior-Based Safety observation program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the EHS Department Manager and Regional Safety Director.
