About The Position

We assist consumers facing a variety of financial challenges, particularly in managing credit card debt. As a Debt Management Counselor your primary role will involve helping established clients effectively manage their debt. This includes overseeing all accounts with their creditors and providing consistent, compassionate support throughout their financial journey. Position Summary This position offers support to a credit counseling process that includes a complete financial review and personalized budget, along with recommended solutions to help clients resolve their debt, achieve financial freedom and start saving for the future.

Requirements

  • Ability to make or receive inbound/outbound calls in a quiet private space free from background noise and distractions allowing you to maintain a high level of quality and client satisfaction
  • You have a positive outgoing personality with a high level of professionalism
  • You are receptive to ongoing feedback and coaching
  • You must be flexible, dependable, committed, and open to change
  • You know how to engage people and listen patiently
  • You are empathetic and non-judgmental; you like to make people feel better
  • 1-2 years in a phone-based/customer service role
  • Experience in the financial service industry, sales, or collections
  • You have a High School Diploma or GED — some college is great, too!
  • You are fluent in both English and Spanish — majority of calls will be English
  • Required to obtain NFCC and FCRA certification during training
  • Required to obtain HUD Housing Counselor certification within 6 months of hire

Responsibilities

  • Talk with English and Spanish speaking clients about their current financial situation, challenges and hardships to help them understand their available options.
  • Build trust with clients by listening carefully and responding with kindness and compassion.
  • Walk clients through a complete review of their current income, expenses and debts and use that information to create a budget using our proprietary software.
  • Discuss the program benefits and encourage them to enroll in the plan if the debt management plan is their best option.
