About The Position

Genesis Women’s Shelter & Support is a non-profit agency providing a continuum of care for women and children who are victims of family violence. For years Genesis has been providing safety, shelter, crisis intervention, on-going counseling and advocacy for women and children at both residential and non-residential locations. Genesis continues to be a community leader in providing training and education on issues surrounding intimate partner and gender-based violence. This is a full-time position. We do not have any Part-Time or PRN positions available. The Bilingual Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) will provide direct occupational therapy services to clients at all Genesis locations. Implement the occupational therapy plan of care as directed by an occupational therapist; identify safety concerns as related to occupational therapy services and engage in safety planning with referred clients Provide individual and group occupational therapy services to women, adolescents, and children Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client services in the electronic database, in compliance with agency guidelines. Consult with advocates, counselors, teachers and attorneys on clients with occupational therapy needs; including assisting in identifying when/why an occupational therapy referral would be appropriate for clients. Collaborate with the clinical team in maintaining and updating the Sensory Room

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant program
  • Valid COTA certification
  • State licensure as a COTA
  • Valid CPR Certification (Genesis will provide opportunity to gain within first 6 months)
  • Bilingual English/Spanish required
  • Experience working with Adults and Children.
  • Ability to be an efficient problem-solver and multitask
  • Be proactive and a self-starter.
  • Provide clear and direct communication throughout the organizational structure.
  • Demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid Texas Driver License with a Clean Driving Record and r eliable transportation

Responsibilities
