About The Position

Are you passionate about building bridges and breaking down barriers? We are looking for a dedicated Bilingual Community Liaison (Spanish/English) to be the vital link between our classrooms and our community. In this role, you won’t just be translating words; you’ll be translating dreams and opportunities. You will serve as a trusted advocate for our families, ensuring every student has the support they need to succeed both at home and in school. SUMMARY OF FUNCTION Establishes and maintains communication and productive relationships among school staff, community agencies, parents and students to assist students and their families in the resolution of problems and crisis, and to support and encourage students.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the parenting and of the educational needs and experiences of families
  • Ability to provide support, liaison, and assistance to parents and students in utilizing the educational opportunities of the school system
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Volunteer or work experience in community agencies or schools
  • Valid driver's license (yearly motor vehicle records will be reviewed)

Responsibilities

  • Counsels students one on one regarding academic, attendance and personal problems and school and community resources for assistance
  • Provides motivation and recognition for high risk students
  • Assists in crisis resolution in home and school
  • Encourages personal growth and development of self esteem and self motivation
  • Provides information about student’s status to school staff and facilitates assistance for promoting academic success
  • Coordinates meetings of school staff, parents and students and community agencies
  • Assists students and their parents toward achieving responsible life skills
  • Encourages and models positive leadership
  • Organizes job contacts/employment programs
  • Offers career planning, college information and application assistance, and vocational training opportunities
  • Contacts students and parents by phone or home visits to provide assistance in obtaining food, clothing, shelter, medical treatment necessary to maintain the family environment
  • Notifies community agencies when necessary to report situations needing their response
  • Transports students in emergencies and other situations as needed
  • Performs related duties as assigned

Benefits

  • Employees in this category will also receive the following for the 2025-2026 school year: Non-Recurring Pay: 7% of base salary in Non-Recurring Pay (distributed as 3.5% on November paycheck and 3.5 % on May paycheck).
  • Staffing Stability Incentive (Adams Elementary, Galileo Middle School and Mitchell High School): ESP employees will receive the equivalent of one salary step divided over 12 pay periods.
