About The Position

The Bilingual Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) is responsible for assisting Physicians, Nurses and other medical staff with providing patient care by following policies, procedures, professional guidelines and provides clinical and clerical support such as assistance with medical procedures, cleaning of equipment, filing, retrieval of information and performance of screening examinations.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Must possess certification as a Medical Assistant in the State of New Jersey
• 2 years experience as a Medical Assistant, preferably in OBGYN
• BLS certification, preferred
• Must demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

• Take patient medical history
• Explain treatments or procedures to patients
• Clean and sterilize designated equipment after use
• Prepare patients and assist Physicians with procedures
• Assist patients with obtaining food, toileting, post-op movement and maintaining comfort
• Instruct patients about medication and special diets
• Prepare and administer medications as directed by a Physician or Licensed Provider
• Ensure exam rooms and treatment areas are cleaned after each patient leaves and prepared for the next patient
• Assist with light housekeeping duties which include spills
• Stock exam room/treatment rooms with medical supplies, linen, and designated chart forms
• Ensure chart is maintained with relevant lab work and test results
• Assist in escorting patients and specimens throughout the facility
• Obtain vital signs, weights, and EKGs when needed, and all other tests within the scope of the practice
• Assist with blood collection/phlebotomy as needed
• Other duties as may be assigned
