About The Position

Goddard Riverside is excited to announce the agency is diving back into settlement roots and becoming a resource to Asylum Seekers in New York City! Goddard’s newest endeavor will be a Sanctuary Site for Asylum Seeking families. This site will be a place where families can feel safe, receive resources and support, while becoming acclimated and part of the community.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work or other human services field, strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of trauma and how it manifests, as well as experience delivering trauma-informed, culturally sensitive services.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (written and spoken) required.
  • Experience working on-site in a congregate housing setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide case management services to a caseload of approximately 25 families.
  • Utilize evidence-based practice models including person centered planning, motivational interviewing, trauma informed care, culturally sensitive, and strengths-based approach to families.
  • Monitor compliance with goals through regular weekly contacts.
  • Perform culturally sensitive intake, assessment, service planning, and advocacy.
  • Work closely with shelter staff to enforce rules and regulations for residents.
  • Coordinate interpretation and translation services.
  • Assist school liaison with troubleshooting with NYC Department of Education (DOE) on student registration, school placement, attendance, and transportation.
  • Coordinate with the Mayor’s Office of Immigration Affairs (MOIA) and other legal assistance programs.
  • Refer and follow up on community-based medical, dental, and mental healthcare as needed.
  • Refer to childcare services as needed.
  • Assist with residential groups/activities as needed.
  • Maintain client case records and enter document in a timely manner.
  • Attend staff meetings, case conferences, training programs and supervision meetings; participate in program evaluation and improvement.
  • Other duties as required.
