About The Position

A BI Solution Developer will work closely with the business to understand business needs for analysis and reporting and develop solutions using tools available at his/her disposal. The ideal candidate will be able to design, build, and maintain the systems that extend from our company’s data lake/warehouse and turn business data into reliable reporting and insights. The role sits between business stakeholders and the data platform, translating business questions into well-defined metrics, datasets, and dashboards that people can use to run the company.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in data analytics and/or BI development.
  • Deep expertise in development, including data modeling, DAX, performance tuning, and visualization best practices using modern BI tools (Power BI/Tableau).
  • Very strong communication skills with a proven ability to partner with stakeholders across functional business areas (sales, marketing, finance, operations, and leadership) to drive data-driven decisions.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling and data warehousing concepts and usage, including SQL, ETL/ELT, and Python

Responsibilities

  • Requirements & stakeholder partnership: Gather reporting needs, define metrics and business rules, document acceptance criteria, and manage expectations on scope and timelines.
  • Data modeling & semantic layer design: Create curated datasets that are easy to use and consistent (e.g., star schemas, conformed dimensions, metric definitions) so different reports tell the same story.
  • Data quality: Ensure reporting data is accurate and consistent by defining and running validation checks (reconciliations, integrity/anomaly tests), documenting definitions/known issues, and partnering with data engineering to resolve upstream problems.
  • Report/dashboard development: Build dashboards and reports (e.g., in Power BI), focusing on usability, performance, accessibility, and clear storytelling—plus training users and supporting self-service when appropriate.
  • Security & governance: Apply role-based access and row-level security, manage data sensitivity, and follow change management processes—especially important in regulated/SOX environments.
  • Release & lifecycle management: Use version control and peer review, coordinate UAT, deploy changes safely, and maintain documentation, refresh schedules, and support processes.
  • Operations & support: Monitor refreshes, handle incidents, and continuously improve performance, reliability, and user adoption.
  • Ad-hoc analysis: Respond to one-off business questions by exploring data, building quick queries or prototypes, validating findings, and delivering clear, decision-ready insights with documented assumptions and “as of” context.
  • AI enablement: Help identify and pilot high-value AI use cases, set lightweight responsible-use governance, and partner with IT/data teams to integrate AI into reporting and business workflows.
